CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
CHILDREN AND ACCOMPANYING PERSONS
Due to pharma code regulations, children and accompanying persons are not permitted in the exhibition area or the session rooms at any time. Due to these regulations, children and accompanying persons will not be permitted beyond the registration area.
Children up to the age of 1 year are allowed at the venue, considering that one parent watches the child and the child does not disturb the congress, delegates neither the exhibitor. We kindly ask you to respect this and thank you for understanding in this matter.
There is no social programme for accompanying persons.
The ‘European Society of Ophthalmology Congress 2017’ is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.
The ‘European Society of Ophthalmology Congress 2017’ is designated for a maximum of (or ‘for up to’) 20 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.
Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme.
Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognized by the UEMS-EACCME for ECMEC credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. The EACCME credit system is based on 1 ECMEC per hour with a maximum of 3 ECMECs for half a day and 6 ECMECs for a full-day event.
Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance including CME Credits, upon completion of the Congress Survey. The survey will be emailed to your registration email address after the Congress. On completion of the survey you will be able to print your certificate. Certificate of Attendance will not be printed onsite in Barcelona.

The official language of the Congress is English.
No simultaneous translation will be provided.
The SOE2017 Congress will take place at the CCIB, Barcelona.
The CCIB is located at Plaça de Willy Brandt, 11-14, 08019 Barcelona, Spain.

LUNCH AND REFRESHMENTS
No official meals will be provided during SOE2017. A number of coffee/snack points will sell sandwiches and snacks.
Tea and coffee are provided twice a day on Saturday to Monday and once on Tuesday.

The Opening ceremony will be held at the CCIB and is open to all registered participants.
During the Opening ceremony the Charamis Medal & Henkes Award for Leadership in Ophthalmology will be awarded.
The ICO Mark Tso Golden Apple Award, for an ophthalmologist producing outstanding work in regional training and recognised for innovation and leadership in ophthalmic education will also be awarded.
Located in the Southwest of the city, only 12 km from the city centre
An airport bus shuttle service between the airport and Barcelona city centre (Plaza Cataluña) runs from 06.00 a.m. to 01.00 a.m. (airport to Barcelona) and from 05:30 to 00:15 (Barcelona to airport) every day.
Buses leave every 10-12 minutes and the trip takes around 30 minutes.
SOE2017 will not organise shuttles buses from the hotels to the congress venue.
We recommend all delegates use the Barcelona Public Transport System of buses and metro which is a very effective and an inexpensive.

Urquinaona is around 200 m from Plaza Cataluña and is on Metro line L4 (yellow): this line takes you directly to the Maresme-Fòrum Metro station for the CCIB.
Bus and Tram
You can reach the CCIB by bus, using the lines 7 or 41, and by tram, alighting at the Fòrum tram stop.
Any of these means of public transport will drop you just a few steps from the CCIB.
Some countries need a visa to enter Barcelona. Participants are encouraged to contact their local Spanish embassy or consulate to enquire if they require a visa. It is important to start the process at least 3 months prior to the SOE2017 Congress. For further details on Spanish embassy’s click here
CANCELLATION OR MODIFICATION OF THE MEETING DUE TO FORCE MAJEUR
In case of force majeure, SOE2017, has the right to alter or cancel the Meeting without prior notice, however a notice of the occurrence shall be given by SOE2017 as soon as reasonably possible. Force majeure shall mean any circumstance beyond the reasonable control of SOE2017 which prevents or impedes the holding of the Congress, including, but not limited to, government action, war or hostilities, riot or civil commotion, plague or other epidemic such as SARS, bird flu, earthquake, flood, hurricane, cyclone, fire or other natural physical disaster, explosion, accident or breakdown, strike, lack of the usual means of transportation or terrorism. SOE2017 shall not be liable for any direct or indirect, incidental or consequential damages, losses, expenditures or any other inconveniences or costs caused by such modification or cancellation of the Congress. Furthermore, registration fees will not be reimbursed by SOE2017.
SOE2017 and Simply Events (UK) Ltd cannot accept liability for injuries or losses of whatever nature incurred by participants nor for loss of or damage to their luggage and/or personal belongings. Please check the validity of your own travel insurance. All reasonable endeavours will be made to hold SOE2017 and to present its program as scheduled under circumstances which assure the comfort and safety of all participants. However, neither SOE2017 nor its committees, representatives or agents, shall be held liable by any person as a result of the cancellation of the Congress or of any of the arrangements, programs or plans connected therewith, or for any injury, damage or inconvenience which may be suffered by any person while travelling to or from, or during such person’s presence in Barcelona in connection with SOE2017. Participants are fully liable for damages caused to third parties and property. All delegates shall have a valid, fully comprehensive third party liability insurance.
